Reiki
Reiki was founded in Japan by Dr Mikao Usui in the early 1900's
The Japanese Reiki kanji is made up of 2 parts. The first part is 'rei' meaning universal or spirit and the second part 'ki' meaning energy or force.
Reiki is a non-invasive complementary therapy, said to use the natural energy flow for health and well being.
It is not a religion and does not impose any religious beliefs on the person being treated.
Reiki is used to stimulate natural re-balancing. Its gentle nature means it is suitable for all ages. Anyone may benefit from a reiki treatment as it covers a range of conditions.
It has been documented that animals also respond well to a reiki treatment.
Reiki can be done as a 'hands on ' treatment at a centre, at your home or sent remotely to a person. After a treatment you may feel deeply relaxed.
What happens during a Reiki treatment at Airtherapies lifestyle centre?
Before treatment you will remain fully clothed, and will be asked to remove all mechanical devices, watches, shoes and contact lenses.
Reiki maybe used on the whole body or localised to a specific part of the body.
A full body treatment can last between 45 and 90 minutes, with localised treatments lasting approximately 20min.
Practitioners at airherapies may follow the set movements as guided by the usui style of reiki or use their intuition to guide movements to the areas that need attention.
You may feel warmth, tingling, see colours or images and feel a sense of deep relaxation. The practitioner will discuss your treatment "experience" as part of your aftercare when treatment has finished.
After treatment you should avoid alcohol or stimulants and enjoy the overall sense of wellbeing from this unique individual treatment experience.
